Al-Dahnás Vitae Victoria (Victoria)
Al-Dahná's Vitae Victoria, or Victoria, was born on May 6th 2008, as the 9th of 12 puppies. She is after Alouann Fame N Fortune (Harvey) and Al-Dahnás Rakhsha (Sasha). She was from the start of very strong will and very lively. This was probably the main reason for her surviving when the tragedy struck Kennel Al-Dahná, in difference to her siblings. They died from an infection they got from the milk of the mother Sasha. Victoria also became very ill, and was given, by the vet, very little chance of survival. But she is extremely stubborn and that was probably one of the reasons why she survived. Victoria was 330g when she was born, and she is very light golden with black mask, black ears and a black tail. Victoria is lucky enough to have several owners; Torill & Bent-Ove Knudsen (Kennel Al-Dahná), Liz Millward (Alouann, UK) and Alf H. Refsum. She will grow up at Kennel Al-Dahná with the rest of the Al-Dahná bunch.
Al-Dahná's Vitae Victoria (Victoria) is still a small and very young pup. She has now started on her show career. She is early out and has already got a personal trainer and handler for her show career, in addition to several others that have voiced their interest. Belle Skogland (Kennel All Sighthounds), who also handles Requitha and Hippi, and Stian Tangjerd have both offered themselves (demanded to be) as handler and trainer for Victoria. In addition, because of her English part-owner, Liz Millward from Alouann, a show career in the UK is also on the cards.
Victoria will surely become the most spoilt dog in the flock at Kennel Al-Dahná. We believe she will become a kind of mascot for Afghans in Norway, but we know for sure the she will be one for Kennel Al-Dahná. The Afghan and dog circles has, even though there are large personal differences, been solidly in their support of her when the tragedy struck us at Kennel Al-Dahná. This support helped us with keeping our spirits up in a critical period when we most needed it, and we are very grateful for it.
Victoria lived for the first few weeks with Barbro because she was not allowed to be near Sasha as long as Sasha was infectious. Barbro looked after Victoria 24 hours a day in the beginning. Later on Barbro managed to get a full nights sleep, as Victoria started to sleep longer. Victoria has now returned home to Torill and the other dogs at Kennel Al-Dahná.

Victoria has a long good neck, a faboulous head, and powerful legs. She has already got nice shape to her snout. Victoria was not best pup from the litter, and of course one will always speculate about what was lost, but she is the only we have left. She has already got a trainer and handler signed up, so that part of her life is wel taken care of.

It is comforting to have a friend to snuggle up to, even if he doesn't say or do much. The cuddly lion was given to her as a substitute for her missing siblings. It helps a little bit against the loneliness that came when her siblings disappeared.

This is the day when Victoria made her first trip outside the puppybox. She is 14 days old, and walk upright when not sleeping. She is also together with her friend, the toy lian, that is still a bit large for her.

This is the day when Victoria got her first meal from a bowl, even though the dummy is still nice to have. It was a somewhat messy affair. Being bathed and groomed is also on the timetable, as there will be many such sessions in the future.

Victoria 23 days old
Victoria is 23 days old and gets her first show-training. We believe, of course, that she is doing very well for such a young one. Her friend, the lion, is now quite small compared to Victoria, and she treats him as such. It is good to have the bulldog as a kind of reserve mum.

Victoria lost her mother Sasha when she was only 6 weeks old. Sasha lost her battle against fate. Sasha and Victoria met only once. The picture below is from that meeting. It is a fitting picture for both of them.

Show training with Belle at the early age of 8 weeks. She does this fantastically well, so her future as a showring star looks very good indeed.

The first trip to a show
Victoria had her first trip to a show, and also her first trip abroad, when she came along to the big show in Vesterås in Sweden. We took a lot of pictures on the trip, some of them are below, and others can be found on the page about the trip to Vesterås.

Visiting Alf in Oslo
On Friday August 1st 2008 Torill and I - Victoria, visited Alf in Oslo, So that he could see how large I have become, and take some pictures of me. Alf says that over 600 pictures were taken in a couple of hours. And, if truth be told, I am a very photogenic young lady, don't you think? Below are some of the photos. Alf says that I soon will be able to compete with my uncle Raskho Ramsey about who has had the most pictures taken of them, at least there are more pictures of me on the net.

Victoria on a visit to the studio of Morten Gundersen
Torill brought Shahib and Victoria with her to Morten Gundersen's studio. The result was a series of very nice pictures of the young beauty. Below are a selection of these that show what a good photographer can do with a beautiful motif. We are very grateful that Morten had the time to this shoot, and think the results speak for themselves.

Parents
Victoria's parents are Harvey (Alouann Fame N Fortune) and Sasha (Al-Dahná's Rakhsha) that are two unbelievably similar typed afghan hounds from very different lines. These lines contain, on their own, a lot of very good hounds. Just take a look at the pedigree below (on this page), or explore them on the Afghan Hound Pedigree Database (AHPD). Alouann Fame N Fortune (Harvey) pedigree and Al-Dahná's Rakhsha (Sasha) pedigree. We have also got separate pages about Harvey and Sasha.
